Ophthalmology is a specialty focused on medical and surgical care of the eyes. Ophthalmologists are the only physicians medically trained to manage complete range of eye and vision care. Ophthalmologists test visual function and examine the eye for faulty development, disease, injury, degeneration, aging, or refractive errors. They prescribe treatment for eye disease and perform surgery when needed.

Annual vision examinations for glasses or contact lenses is not provided.
