Patients First Drug Research Leads to FDA Approval
WASHINGTON, MO, May 27, 2011 - The Clinical Research Division of Patients First Health Care,
Washington, participated in drug trials on a cardiovascular drug that was recently approved by the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The approved drug, Takeda 491 compound, will be marketed under the name EDARBI (azilsartan
medoxomil) for the treatment of hypertension in adults. EDARBI, an angiotensin II receptor blocker
(ARB), is a once-daily oral therapy approved for use alone or in combination with other antihypertensive
medications.
The Patients First Clinical Research division participates in numerous clinical drug trials
throughout the year along with medical device trials. Christa Kozemski, Clinical Research Coordinator,
and Chris Meyer, RN, work directly with patients and physicians in conducting, monitoring and reporting
trial participation and results.
