Cardiac Electrophysiologist Joins SSM Heart Institute, Patients First Health Care
St. Louis - July 27, 2011 - Christopher E. Bauer, MD, cardiac electrophysiologist, will join
SSM Heart Institute and Patients First Health Care, a multi-specialty physician group based in
Washington, Mo., on August 1, 2011. He will have offices at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center in
Richmond Heights, SSM St. Clare Health Center in Fenton and Patients First Health Care in
Washington.
A cardiac electrophysiologist is a cardiologist who specializes in the diagnoses and treatment
of abnormal heart rhythms, including atrial fibrillation. Dr. Bauer performs both catheter-based
interventional and device-based surgical procedures to treat cardiac arrhythmias, including
ablation of complex cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac resynchronization therapy, and implantation of
pacemakers and defibrillators.
Dr. Bauer received his undergraduate degree from Rockhurst University where he graduated
magna cum laude. He earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of
Medicine. He completed a residency with the Department of Internal Medicine at the Mayo
Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed fellowships in cardiovascular diseases and clinical
cardiac electrophysiology, both at Oklahoma University, Oklahoma City.
Dr. Bauer is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases and board eligible
in clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He is a published author and has presented at both
national and international medical conferences.
Dr. Bauer will see patients at three locations, including the Patients First Cardiovascular
Division in Washington, which includes cardiologists John Mohart, MD; Brian Seeck, MD;
Michael Beardslee, MD; Michael Wood, MD; and Tim Schloss, MD. He will perform testing
and procedures at SSM St. Clare Health Center and SSM St. Mary’s Health Center. For more
