Cancer Center
Our mission at the PFHC Cancer Center is to deliver innovative,
patient-focused cancer treatment and care. Cancer treatment can be
difficult and draining. Patients First's Cancer Center is designed to
make the process of diagnosis, treatment and prevention as simple,
caring and efficient as possible.
Treatment Programs
Radiation Oncology
Radiation Oncology is the use of radiation for the treatment of
malignant cancer cells or tumors. Patients First Health Care's medical
staff uses a state-of-the-art machine called a linear accelerator
(LINAC) to destroy cancerous cells inside the body. Since the LINAC
focuses the radiation on a very small and targeted area of the body,
the amount of radiation affecting normal tissue is greatly reduced.
Generally, the treatments are administered 5 days a week, as often as
twice a day. The weekend break from treatment gives normal tissue a
chance to heal and minimizes side effects.
Medical Oncology
Medical Oncology is the diagnosis and treatment of malignant cancers.
A medical professional that specializes in medical oncology is called
an oncologist. An oncologist is concerned with and responsible for all
aspects of diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors, including
diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and screening. Your PFHC oncologist
will not only diagnose and treat your cancer but will also be with you
every step of the way throughout the course of the disease.
Infusion Therapy
Infusion therapy provides a patient with fluid, blood or blood product,
a drug or nutritional product directly into the bloodstream. The
majority of infusion therapy in oncology is focused on chemotherapy,
the infusion of drugs designed to destroy cancer cells by stopping them
from growing and multiplying. In addition, infusion therapy is used to
protect and help the body recover from all types of cancer treatments
by boosting a patient's immune system and combating nausea, anemia and
osteoporosis.
Physicians and Medical Staff
Patients First Health Care's goal is to provide top quality,
patient-focused care. We pride ourselves on having the most
compassionate physicians and nurses overseeing your treatment. The
PFHC team is highly-skilled in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention
of cancer and cancer-related diseases.
Technology
PFHC is committed to providing the most advanced imaging resources and
treatment plans to our patients. Patients of PFHC's Cancer Center have
access to the latest Linear Accelerator technology (LINAC). LINAC
therapy benefits patients by focusing the radiation on a moving tumor
to eliminate it while minimizing the amount of healthy tissue that is
exposed to the radiation. In addition, tumors and lesions do not
remain in the exact same place throughout radiation treatments. With
real-time localization, the LINAC lets the physicians target the
tumor precisely while avoiding healthy tissue.
